THE UPPER SCHOOL - GRADES 9 THROUGH 12

The Upper School program is designed to promote both the academic and personal progress of the students. While the program reflects an abiding commitment to liberal education, it also ensures that students are trained to express themselves lucidly and to think deeply. There is great breadth represented in the curricular offerings and frequent consideration of big ideas, but the School is committed also to the honing of elemental academic skills in each boy. Students are encouraged to pursue various disciplines and modes of inquiry and to take risks. Neither, though, are they dilettantes. In fact the program encourages applying learning directly to real-life situations and developing in our students a regard for the life of the mind, an ability to make important intellectual connections, and a curiosity about the world that will remain life-long passions.

University School maintains a wide variety of elective course in many areas. Unique courses include Computer Aided Design (CAD), computer graphics, and an outdoor education unit. Additionally, boys have a chance to work with our trout hatchery and maple sugar operation.
