Reunion
Weekend 2003 is fast approaching! Members from all classes ending
in 3 and 8 are busy planning dinners, golf outings and more for
their respective classes as these classes are expected to return
en masse to US this Spring.
Reunion Weekend 2003 officially kicks off with the Annual Alumni
Awards Dinner on Thursday May 15, 2003. The US alumni names its
"Alumni Man of the Year" at this dinner and it is open
to all US alums. RSVP's are required for this event held annually
at the Shaker Campus.
Friday morning at 8:00 am "US Today", a program designed
to bring alums back to school when school is in session, starts
the school day at the Hunting Valley campus. Alums attend morning
assembly, meet with Dr. Hawley as a group for a 30 minute "Q
& A", meet with a panel of boys from the Senior Class to
discuss "US Today" as seen through the senior's eyes and
receive a tour of all the new and proposed facilities at the Hunting
Valley Campus. After finishing tours of the Hunting Valley Campus,
alums will proceed to the Shaker Campus for tours and lunch.
Friday afternoon and evening is open for classes to meet among themselves
at a Tribe game, at a classmates home or neighboring club for dinner
or at a local establishment for beverages and conversation.
Saturday May 17 begins with The Annual Alumni Softball Challenge
& Picnic, rain or shine! Softball starts at 10:30 at Hunting
Valley and the grill opens at the Smythe Pavilion at 11:30. Last
year over 100 alums and their families attended!
On Saturday evening at 6:00, Hawken School is the host for the Four
School Cocktail Party. It will be held at their Gates Mills Campus
and RSVPs are requested. This is a great way for a large class to
meet in a central location before adjourning to their own class
party elsewhere.
The weekend concludes with a "Brunch at the Headmasters House"
for the Fiftieth Year Reunion Class only.
